Carpe eDatum, UT Medical Branch team up
Austin-based Carpe eDatum Inc. and the University of Texas Medical
Branch at Galveston have teamed up to provide a full-scale
telemedicine program. Carpe eDatum markets and integrates a software
system and hardware that allow transmission of medical information
through videoconferencing. The university will provide the medical
consultation to team with the transmission component. A value of the
deal, which was announced in a Carpe eDatum news release, wasn't
disclosed. The university has performed more than 53,000 live video
consultations, with a current pace of about 1,800 a month. The
university predicts that amount will double by the end of the year.
