Carpe eDatum Installs PACS Network at
Johns Community Hospital

Austin, Texas based Carpe eDatum, Inc. (CeD) announced today that they just completed the installation of a web based picture archiving and communication system (PACS) at Johns Community Hospital (JCH) in Taylor, Texas.  According to CeD, the robust PACS will facilitate archiving and distribution of all JCH medical images and associated diagnostic reports.

CeD installed the PACS from Vamstec, d.o.o. of Zagreb, Croatia on the hospital’s local area network.  The hospital will utilize modules available from Vamstec, enabling a totally embedded system to include image capture, diagnostic review, dictation, transcription and secure web based image and report distribution.  Unlike most other installed systems, the dictation and transcription are tightly embedded with code written by the same company, Vamstec.  As such, images, dictation and transcription are always available, attached and updated in real time as records are distributed to authorized users.

CeD also provided input and output devices from Kodak Health Imaging of Rochester, NY.  Kodak’s computed radiography (CR), LS film digitizer and DryView 8700 Laser Imager will be strategically placed on the high-speed network to optimize radiology workflow.

The system will acquire, archive and distribute locally and through the web computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance procedures (MR), computed radiography (CR), nuclear medicine (NM), ultrasound (US) and radiography and fluoroscopy (R&F).

Johns Community Hospital plans to go live with the system next week.
