Carpe eDatum and Ship-Rad Services Will Install Another
Holland America System

Austin, Texas based Carpe eDatum, Inc. (CeD) and partner Ship-Rad Services of Vancouver, B.C. will install another Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Computed Radiography (CR) device in the infirmary aboard the Oosterdam.  The Oosterdam is Holland America’s (HAL) newest ship, currently under construction in Mastre, Italy where Ship-Rad will do the installation.  The companies and HAL have chosen to use Kodak Health Imaging’s CR product (formerly Lumysis) to produce the digital x-rays because of its reliability, long track record and global service organization.  The Kodak product is recognized as the standard for desktop computed radiography.  Like her sister vessels, the Amsterdam and Zuiderdam, the companies will continue to utilize Vamstec’s robust PACS system to acquire, store and communicate digital x-ray images via satellite link to the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas.  UTMB radiologists will interpret and return their findings back to the ship’s doctor through the same satellite link.   The Oosterdam is scheduled to enter HAL’s fleet service in June.
