eDatum Signs US Distribution Agreement
Carpe eDatum, Inc., an Austin, Texas based company announced today that it has signed a long term agreement for exclusive distribution of Vamstec, Clinical Image Management System (CIMS) software and related web applications in the US market. Carpe eDatum plans to utilize Vamstec’s proprietary FDA cleared Visual Analysis and Measurement Systems Technology software to penetrate new emerging segments of the US medical market. Carpe eDatum founder, Gary Mermelstein and Adil Dzubur of Vamstec said they would establish headquarters for US distribution in Austin while continuing research and development in Zagreb, Croatia where intellectual property is rich and abundant, yet cost of development is low.
According to Adil Dzubur, “The Vamstec medical imaging software consists of two main components; ISSA, which is the medical information and archiving system and Pharos which is the interactive remote image/data communication module.” “ISSA is the unique “patient centered” imaging solution focused on the creation of patient profiles, consisting of vital patient information, including medical images that travel with the patient record throughout their medical history.” “Pharos enables interactive and store and forward electronic consultations.” Gary Mermelstein said, “Heavy emphasis will be placed on delivering radiological exams such as CT, MRI, x-ray and ultrasound, other clinical images such as pathology and clinical information through the internet to referring physicians, a niche where we believe we can excel.” These results, according to Dzubur and Mermelstein, will be available to referring physicians, anytime…anywhere through the use of an internet browser.
Vamstec currently has installations in 28 hospitals and clinics, connecting 18 cities in Europe”. Vamstec customers have been communicating and seamlessly transferring complex data across the internet with the technology and have been virtually filmless and paperless for over three years.
Dr. Nick Tsourmas, a Director of Carpe eDatum and Chairman of Orthopedics for St. David’s hospital in Austin said, “Vamstec technology will allow referring physicians of radiology and pathology to obtain critical results instantly and securely.” “The goal is to become more efficient and to better serve our patients, a dire need in our medical community.” “The technology will also help us to comply the with the impending HIPAA patient privacy rules.”
Joint future development by Carpe eDatum and Vamstec involves delivering results through wireless devices such as PDAs, a PET (positive emission tomography) fusion application and electronic orthopedic implant templating through the internet.
